The Seaforth Public School Training and Performance Bands are one of the most successful extra-curricular activities offered at Seaforth Public School and are open to any child in Years 3-6.
In Term 4 of each year the Band Program offers all children in Year 2 a program of band events including the annual band ‘Try an Instrument Day” where students have the opportunity to try a range of instruments under the expert gaze of professional tutors to find their instrumental ‘best fit’. Following this students can apply to join the SPS Training Band.
Each year all members of the SPS Band program attend a number of special events including a Band Intensive Day, and the much loved Band Camp held each year at Camp Kedron which involves intensive specialist tutoring sessions, fun activities such as rock climbing and archery and a sleep over experience all followed by a final performance for parents.
Throughout the year the band also performs at numerous events including NSWEE concerts and other local and regional concert events. The Band Committee also organise numerous fund raising events to assist our band, and purchase instruments.
During their time in the band your child will learn to play an instrument, read music and work together with their friends to produce wonderful music. The many skills they learn carry over into all parts of their lives.
The Band Program is run entirely by parent volunteers. Without the support of our parents, the band would not exist.
